Brendan, by Morgan Llywelyn

I enjoyed this book a lot. I read a few others from the same author, and she seems to follow the same lines as in the previous books I read from her, but this one seems to be closer to my way of thinking, and with a less tragic approach to the split between being content and achieve goals.

St. Brendan was the first Irish saint of whom I learnt anything, when I read the adventure from Tim Severin building a boat like his and sailing to America. I also read the translation of the Navigatiao, from Brendan himself, which I also enjoyed and also opened my eyes to the fact that even saints were people and got furious now and then (in his memory, he start the trip as penance for making one of the monks to die just because he upset him).

The story follow the lines of the memory, but with a fiction side on the adventures of Brendan while in Ireland (including, as in each of the other books from the same author, a tragic romance side story).

But what I liked most is the positive and hopeful view that Brendan has on life, and the things he learn. Specially the encounter with Judas on the rock. I never thought about that before, but if even Judas got a partial exit from Hell just by the mercy of God, it means that even when everything is done there is space for hope.

I am recommending this book to all my friends.
